Oakley, Inc. today announced the upcoming debut of its innovative new 3D eyewear. A special edition will celebrate the release of TRON: Legacy, a much-anticipated Disney 3D film opening in U.S. theaters on December 17, 2010. The new “TRON” Limited Edition 3D Gascan® by Oakley will give movie audiences the superior technologies developed specifically for Oakley 3D eyewear, assuring a premium 3D experience.
The Walt Disney Studios collaborated with the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) to co-create a highly interactive exhibit at the USA Science & Engineering Festival, which will take place on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., October 23-24, 2010, from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. each day. The hands-on experience blends themes from the upcoming major motion picture “TRON: Legacy” with the NAE’s Grand Challenges for Engineering.
Visitors to the Disney-NAE exhibit will be able to:
- View and photograph real props from the film including the SHIVA laser
- View and photograph a lifelike replica of Sam Flynn’s Lightcycle
Disney Consumer Products is collaborating with high-end designers Rousseau, Hayden-Harnett, Rotenier, and TomTom to launch a luxury accessory and shoe collection for women inspired by the high-tech 3D adventure TRON: Legacy, releasing in U.S. theaters Dec. 17, 2010 in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D. Designed for the young female urbanite, the new TRON: Legacy couture line features dramatic sterling silver and leather statement pieces including an iconic limited edition 5-inch high-heeled platform sandal inspired by the fearless female warrior — Quorra. Ranging in retail prices from $90 – $2,600, the new couture line complements the film’s sleek aesthetic and any chic woman’s wardrobe.

On his official blog, Disney Fine Artist Noah, known in part for his extremely popular custom hand-painted Vinylmation collectibles (ranging in size from 9″ to 5′), has announced the official TRON: Legacy Vinylmation by Noah release will take place November 21 at Downtown Disney’s D Street at both the Disneyland and Walt Disney World resorts.

I was invited to a press event late this afternoon in New York City at which Walt Disney Studios screened Tangled in its semi-current unfinished format as well as a 20+ minute compilation of various scenes from TRON: Legacy, not unlike those recently held in Burbank. The event was hosted by Studios production head Sean Bailey who opened the presentation by presenting a 30 second tv spot for Secretariat, reminding us all that the movie opens on Friday.
