'The Wind Rises' on Blu-rayAhead of any official announcement, Amazon has begun listing Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises on Blu-ray and DVD with a release date of November 18, 2014. Earlier today we announced that Kiki’s Delivery Service will also be released on November 18 with a 2-disc Blu-ray featuring never-before-seen bonus features as well as Princess Mononoke on Blu-ray for the first time in the US.

‘Frozen,’ ‘The Lone Ranger’ Lead 2014 Oscar Nominations for Disney

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences named its nominees for the upcoming 86th Academy Awards, which will air in the United States on ABC on Sunday, March 2, 2014. While Saving Mr. Banks was snubbed from most of the main categories, it managed to garner a nomination for Best Original Score by Thomas Newman. But it was Walt Disney Animation Studios that shined this year, for two unsurprising nominations for Frozen: ‘Let It Go’ for Best Original Song (Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez) and Best Animated Feature where it will compete against Disney’s other contender, Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises.

‘The Wind Rises’ Full English-Speaking Cast Announced

'The Wind Rises' Teaser PosterAn A-list roster of voice talent has been assembled for the English-language version of Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises, which opens in select North American theaters on February 21, 2014, expanding wide on February 28, 2014. The film marks director Hayao Miyazaki’s final feature, as the legendary animation veteran announced his retirement in September 2013.

In The Wind Rises, Jiro dreams of flying and designing beautiful airplanes, inspired by the famous Italian aeronautical designer Caproni. Nearsighted and unable to be a pilot, he becomes one of the world’s most accomplished airplane designers, experiencing key historical events in an epic tale of love, perseverance and the challenges of living and making choices in a turbulent world. The voice cast of the English-language version follows.

‘Frozen,’ ‘Monsters University,’ ‘Toy Story of TERROR!’ Score Big with Annie Awards Noms; Alice Davis to be Honored

ASIFA-Hollywood announced nominations today for its 41st Annual Annie Awards recognizing the year’s best in the field of animation. The Annie Awards cover 30 categories and include Best Animated Feature, Best Animated Special Production, Commercials, Short and Outstanding Individual Achievements.

Best Animated Feature, Frozen, Monsters University and The Wind Rises are up against Despicable Me 2, Ernest & Celestine and The Croods. Frozen and Monsters University also dominated with nine other nominations each in the following categories:
