The third and final wave of power discs for the first generation of ‘Disney Infinity’ will be released on April 1, 2014, the same day that the ‘Phineas & Ferb’ Toybox Set is scheduled to be released. This news comes via a new listing for the blind packs on DisneyStore.com.
Disney Interactive has issued a notice that it is seeking males and females of 18 years of age and older to participate in a playtest for a new mobile game currently being developed. Because of the game’s nature, the opportunity is offered to anyone who is deemed eligible regardless of geographic location. All that is needed to be considered is an eligible mobile device and a commitment to play at least 30 minutes between the dates of January 21 and February 11.
As an incentive, Disney will be providing each selected participant with a $20 Visa gift card upon completion of the playtest.
Earlier today, Nintendo America announced its initial plans for its Nintendo 3DS portable gaming platform for 2014. Among the titles announced is ‘Disney Magical World’ which is slated to be available both in-store as well as through the Nintendo eShop beginning April 11.
According to Nintendo, ‘Disney Magical World’ is a new game featuring dozens of Disney characters in a variety of Disney-themed worlds. Players can customize their characters with hundreds of Disney-themed outfits and accessories, all while managing a café, planting crops and collecting Disney character cards. Players help different characters solve problems or find missing items.
Much as it did with the Blu-ray release of Monsters University, bundling either a Mike Wazowski or Randall Boggs ‘Disney Infinity’ figure along with the 2D version of the film, Walmart has announced it will do the same with Frozen when it releases on March 18, 2014. Although no image is currently available (see the Monsters University items as a sample), separate listings for pre-orders have been put up for both Anna and Elsa.

However, while most retailers will have to wait until April 1, 2014 to sell the ‘Phineas and Ferb’ Toy Box Pack, GameStop has announced it will be selling the pack exclusively beginning March 14, 2014. The toy box pack (pictured here) features both the Phineas and Agent P (/aka/ Perry the Platypus) figures as well as the ‘Phineas and Ferb’ texture set and skydome power discs.
Square Enix and Disney Interactive Studios have just released a new game trailer as well as screens from their upcoming title, ‘Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX,’ available exclusively for the Sony PlayStation 3 console in 2014. The trailer comes from the Jump Festa event in Japan and features fan-favorite characters like Sora, Roxas, Riku and Naminé alongside the Disney cast including Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Hercules, King Mickey, Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean) and others – now in stunning high-definition graphics.

It’s probably not too hard to imagine that one of the most popular questions constantly being posed to Disney’s Avalanche Software, developer of ‘Disney Infinity’ is if and when Marvel or Star Wars will be introduced as playables. While it just wasn’t likely Lucasfilm properties would find their way into the first generation of the gaming platform simply because of the timing, the potential for tapping into Marvel was there — as it is, Marvel does actually have a known presence in the game in the form of the Incredible Hulk townsperson costume.
After a successful relaunch of the SEGA Disney classic, ‘Castle of Illusion’ (not to mention ‘Power of Illusion’ for Nintendo 3DS, Disney has announced it is releasing a version for Apple iDevices including iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch via the launch trailer embedded below. At this time it does not appear that the app is available in the iTunes store, however. UPDATE: Castle of Illusion is now available in the App Store for $9.99.

Joining the ‘Disney Infinity’ figure release of Tangled‘s Rapunzel (being released exclusively by Walmart on November 22, 2013) will be the stars of Wreck-It Ralph, which will also be exclusive to specific retailers through the remainder of 2013.
