05.0 075.00 DTS v002.0051 300dpi 160x90 EXCLUSIVE: Dane Cook to Lead Disneys PlanesWalt Disney Studios and DisneyToon Studios are expected to announced today that comedian-slash-actor Dane Cook will be replacing Jon Cryer as the voice of Dusty Crophopper, the the protagonist of its upcoming theatrical release Planes. This news comes just as a new trailer for the film is expected (and previously leaked online), featuring the characters speaking for the first time.

Inspired by the world of Cars from Pixar Animation Studios, Disney’s Planes is an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure featuring Dusty (voice of Dane Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing — and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.

The only other reported (unconfirmed) voice talent in the film belongs to Carlos Alazraqui as the voice of El Chupacabra (El Chupa for short), Brad Garrett as Chug and Stacy Keach as Skipper. It is unknown at this time when these and additional voice talent for characters such as Ripslinger, Bravo and Echo, amongst other peripheral characters will be announced/confirmed.

Disney’s Planes has an estimated time of arrival in theaters on August 9, 2013 and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D in select theaters. It is directed by Klay Hall.

UPDATE: Walt Disney Studios has now confirmed the casting and has released a new still from the film, pictured above.
