Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios have provided us with an extraordinary number of character model sheets, concept art and even new stills in honor of its return to the Hundred Acre Wood in Winnie the Pooh which will be in theaters nationwide on July 15, 2011.

They’ve also provided us with some ‘fun facts’ regarding the movie and some of the magic that went into producing it, beginning with some of the original Pooh stories by A.A. Milne that inspired the new film.

First Look: ‘Winnie the Pooh’ International Teaser Poster

Marking the studio’s first return to the Hundred Acre Wood in nearly four decades, Winnie the Pooh finds its inspiration in five of the original tales by creator A.A. Milne woven together into one new classic.

Winnie the Pooh stars the voice talents of Jim Cummings (Pooh/Tigger), Craig Ferguson (Owl), Tom Kenny, Travis Oates, Bud Luckey (Eeyore), is directed by Stephen J. Anderson and Don Hall and features all new music composed by Henry Jackman with lyrics by Robert and Kristen Lopez along with a whole new take on the classic theme by Zooey Deschanel. It will be released in theaters nationwide on July 15, 2011.

Video: Walt Disney Animation Studios Celebrates Fifty Animated Classics

In honor of today’s release of its fiftieth animated film, Tangled, Walt Disney Animation Studios takes a couple of minutes to look back at the fifty animated films its produced over the past seven (and nearly a half) decades, starring with 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The video is set to Dreams by Brandi Carlile.

Disney’s Tangled stars the vocal talents of Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy and is now playing in theaters nationwide. Multiple Emmy Award Winning ‘Prep & Landing’ Returns with All New Short and Half Hour Special

“Prep &Landing” returns this season with an all new 7-Minute animated short, “Operation: Secret Santa,” airing on ABC in December, while the half-hour animated special, “Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice,” debuts in 2011. “Prep & Landing” became an instant favorite with viewers and emerged as TV’s number 1 holiday special in the 2009 season. It was also the highest kids rating (kids 2-11/ 7.5/23), for any primetime telecast on broadcast TV in 2009. The special went on to win four Emmy Awards.

Speculation: Disney’s ‘The Ballad of Nessie’ May Be In Theaters Alongside ‘Winnie the Pooh,’ Summer 2011

'Ballad of Nessie' from Walt Disney Animation StudiosIn 2008, Walt Disney Animation Studios announced an initiative to re-introduce the practice of animated shorts, particularly leading into full-length theatrical features due, in part, to the success of Disney/Pixar’s famed shorts lead-ins.

One of the announced projects was one that immediately caught the attention and affections of many a Disney fan, that being of The Ballad of Nessie. Directed by Stevie Wermers and Kevin Deters, the 2D short is described by the studio as having  ‘art direction evocative of the Disney shorts from the 1940s and 50s’ and being ‘the honest to goodness true tale of Loch Ness and its most famous resident.’

Disney and Pixar Innovations Considered for Scientific Achievement Academy Awards

The Scientific and Technical Awards Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that 15 scientific and technical achievements have been selected for further awards consideration, three of which have been created between Disney and Pixar. Although the list has been published, it’s completely preliminary and further innovations are being invited to be considered. The committee will meet in December to make recommendations to Academy’s Board of Governors, which will make the final awards decisions.

Among those devices and processes being considered are Pixar Animation Studios’ Misterd and Alfred (a job queuing and distributing rendering system) and XGen, an arbitrary primitive generator from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Rapunzel Paints the Tower Red in New Concept Art from Disney’s ‘Tangled’

As a plus, it would also seem to double as fine target practice for her chameleon pal, Pascal.

Walt Disney Animation Offers Sneak Peek at Newest Short ‘Tick Tock Tale’

Although it’s fallen behind the anticipated schedule, there has been a lot of talk about Walt Disney Studios taking a cue from Pixar and days of yore and bringing back animated shorts to premiere before every film. Even more recent reports speculate that Disney will be applying this train of thought to live action shorts featuring lesser known characters from the Marvel Universe.

First Look: Box Cover Art for ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Diamond Edition on Blu-ray

Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition on Disney Blu-ray and DVD © WDSHETheHDRoom has exclusively posted cover art for the upcoming Diamond Edition release of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. Also available on the site is the DVD edition of the artwork.

No official announcements regarding the highly anticipated release have been announced so far other than the Disney Store has confirmed it will be releasing a special edition Belle doll in the fall as it has done for The Princess and the Frog’s Tiana and Snow White, however we are currently anticipating a release date of October 5 for the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.
