‘Winnie the Pooh’ Bounces Home on Disney Blu-ray October 25
Ahead of any official announcement, we have learned that the 2011 neo-classic, Winnie the Pooh, will be available to own on Disney Blu-ray and DVD combo pack on October 25, 2011.
The highly acclaimed film, which is now available for pre-order from Amazon.com, is a completely original film which represents the return to the Hundred Acre Wood by Walt Disney Animation Studios in over three decades. Inspired by five stories by original Pooh creator and author A.A. Milne, Owl sends the whole gang – Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, and Roo – on a wild journey to help Eeyore and save Christopher Robin from the mysterious Backson all the while trying to find a suitable replacement for Eeyore’s missing tail. In the end, it turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some ‘hunny.’
‘Winnie the Pooh’ New Stills, ‘Pooh’s Note’ Clip
Walt Disney Animation Studios has just provided us with four new stills from its upcoming return to the Hundred Acre Wood, in Winnie the Pooh, opening this Friday, July 15. The stills, which include an image from the new clip, have been added to the beginning of our stills gallery below and even provide a look at Eeyore after he’s been Tiggerized.
In the clip, titled ‘Pooh’s Note,’ Pooh arrives at Owl’s house with a note he found at Christopher Robin’s door. Owl, who has just taken the award for finding the ideal replacement tail for Eeyore (unTiggerized), decodes the message for the gang, which appears to spell certain doom for their good friend.
Photos: ‘Winnie the Pooh’ VIP Screening in New York
This past weekend, Bobby Lopez, who recently took home multiple Tony Awards for his contribution to ‘The Book of Mormon,’ and wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez held a private screening of Winnie the Pooh at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York City. Below are some photos of the event whose attendees included Broadway star Kerry Butler (currently starring in Broadway’s ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and was once Belle in Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast), actress Edie Falco (of ‘The House of Blue Leaves on Broadway) and her daughter and the film’s star himself, Winnie the Pooh. Toy Story 3 director, Lee Unkrich, and Pooh theme song chanteuse Zooey Deschanel were also reportedly among those who attended the event.

First Look: ‘Winnie the Pooh’ Limited Edition Plush Collection from Disney Store
For his first birthday, Christopher Robin Milne received a stuffed teddy bear from Harrods of London named Edward. The bear, later rechristened Winnie the Pooh — in honor of a real bear at the London Zoo and a real swan named Pooh — was a gift from his father, author A.A. Milne, and was soon joined by a stuffed tiger, donkey, pig and a kangaroo and her joey. With the help of Christopher Robin’s imagination, they inspired a series of stories and were joined by Owl and Rabbit, both entirely A.A. Milne’s creations. Today the stuffed versions of Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet and Kanga reside in the care of the New York Public Library where they are on permanent display to the public.
‘Winnie the Pooh’ Clips: ‘Eeyore’s New Tael’ and ‘Pooh Wanders to the Next Paragraph’
Courtesy of Walt Disney Studios UK, we have two new clips and a new featurette for Winnie the Pooh (July 15, 2011).
In the first clip, titled ‘Eeyore’s New Tael,’ Narrator John Cleese introduces us to just some of the many items the gang employs to help replace Eeyore’s (Bud Luckey) missing tail. In the end (horrible pun admittedly intended), Kanga (Kristen Anderson-Lopez) approaches the daunting task as only a mother could.
‘Ballad of Nessie’ New Stills, Concept Art
Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios have provided us with a new still and a few concept art images for The Ballad of Nessie, the short that will be attached to Winnie the Pooh when it opens on July 15, 2011. We’ve added them to the beginning of our existing gallery of stills from the short, shown below.
‘Winnie the Pooh’ Full Soundtrack Streaming Online for Limited Time
In anticipation of the film and soundtrack’s release later this month, Walt Disney Studios France is streaming the entire original motion picture soundtrack for Winnie the Pooh.
This is your first opportunity to hear the new take on the classic opening theme by Zooey Deschanel, which — as we mentioned yesterday — includes an awkward introduction of Tigger, albeit not nearly as awkward as omitting him completely as the original 1977 film, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh had done. Yesterday we brought you the film’s opening animated sequence courtesy of Walt Disney Studios Germany.
‘Winie the Pooh’ New Clip and a New Intro Too
Walt Disney Studios Germany has released two new videos in support of Winnie the Pooh, Walt Disney Animation Studio’s return to the Hundred Acre Wood in more than three decades.
The first clip is a re-do of the original opening sequence from the film from The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Following a live-action sequence taking place in the bedroom of Christoper Robin, this is the animated segment that introduces us to all of the characters, except it turns out that Tigger was missing from the original 1977 film, so the animators made sure to include him in the revised version. Another major difference between the new and the original segments is that now Christopher Robin is touring the map of the Hundred Acre Wood as the characters are introduced.
First Listen: ‘Winnie the Pooh’ ‘So Long’ by Zooey Deschanel
He’s a bear of very little brain. She’s half of the acclaimed band She & Him. This year, they come together on the big screen in Winnie the Pooh, which hits theaters in select international markets in Spring 2011, and in the U.S. on July 15, 2011. Actress/Musician/Singer/Songwriter Zooey Deschanel (Almost Famous, (500) Days of Summer) joins Winnie the Pooh and all of his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood, performing three songs for the film, including her own take on the classic Winnie the Pooh theme song, ‘A Very Important Thing to Do’ and the original end-credit song ‘So Long,’ which was written by Deschanel and performed with She & Him bandmate M. Ward.
