Disneyland Details ‘World of Color’ FASTPASS, Merchandise and Dining Opportunities

With anticipation and excitement building for the June 11 premiere of the nighttime spectacular “World of Color” in Disney’s California Adventure park, several options are in place for guests who want to maximize their day of fun at the park and make plans to enjoy the show that night.

“World of Color” will be presented twice nightly throughout the Disneyland Resort “Summer Nightastic!” season, June 11 through Aug. 29 (except June 16-17 when Disney’s California Adventure will be closed for Grad Nights).  Guests will stand during the shows – at 9 and 10:15 p.m. – and they may bring strollers into the viewing area.

To see the show, guests will obtain a special FASTPASS for “World of Color” or they can select from several Dining and Picnic packages that include reserved viewing.

The FASTPASS for “World of Color” will be available each morning at the Grizzly River Run FASTPASS terminals.  Guests can insert their park tickets into the terminal to obtain a FASTPASS ticket for the show, and they will be assigned a specific show time.  As with other FASTPASS attractions, a limited number of passes are available for “World of Color.”  When all of the day’s “World of Color” FASTPASS allotment has been distributed, Grizzly River Run terminals will convert back to distributing the Grizzly River Run FASTPASS tickets.

Guests arriving before park opening to line up for the “World of Color” FASTPASS may park in the Pumba parking lot on Disney Way and, beginning at 7 a.m., gather at the Main Entrance to Disney’s California Adventure.  When Disney’s California Adventure opens to the public, guests lined up for FASTPASS will be walked into the park and over to the FASTPASS terminals.

In addition to the FASTPASS for “World of Color,” a selection of specially themed dining package options, which include reserved viewing, are available.

Designing Your Own ‘World of Color’ Show Can Win You a Trip to the Disneyland Resort

World of Color CreatorWhen we the first to let you know that Disneyland had launched its fabulous website for World of Color, we also noted that Disney Parks had registered another domain related to its World of Color show.

Although it still appears as though it may not be ready for public consumption, we’d like to be the first to introduce you to the WorldOfColorCreator.com, a site that can win you a trip to the Disneyland Resort. Using Adobe Premiere Express, the site basically allows you to create your own World of Color show using a ridiculous number of options that let you choose everything from the projected animated scene to Disney characters (which you can re-size and position wherever you like), all sorts of colored water jets and water effects, filters and transitions between scenes, not to mention the actual music from the show. You can even upload your own photos to use in the virtual water show. Videos created can be viewed online in the gallery or shared through various social media networks.

Eligible entries must be between 30 seconds and 1:40 minutes and received by July 12. Starting July 26, the top ten videos as picked by the contest judges will be posted to Facebook for open voting. The video with the most votes will win a 3 day/2 night vacation to the Disneyland Resort which includes a Disneyland Resort hotel stay, 3 day park tickets, VIP seating for both World of Color! and Fantasmic!, a Grand Mickey welcome package, a $1000 Disney Gift Card and a World of Color gift basket. One runner up will receive a $500 Disney Gift Card and a World of Color gift basket while the remaining eight finalists will each receive a World of Color gift basket. You must be at least 18 years of age to enter.

Although the site does appear to be fully functional (and fun!), we stress again that it may not be ready to accept your winning entries, most notably because the detailed rules are missing, but we just felt we had to let our loyal readers in on the deal to get in some extra practice time.

Disneyland Resort Launches Interactive Website for ‘World of Color’

In one of the more impressive demonstrations of the web so far by Disney Parks, Disneyland has launched a flash-based site to promote its new World of Color spectactular which opens at Disney’s California Adventure on June 11.

Found at DisneyWorldOfColor.com (and a few other variations), the site quite realistically presents what could very well be the show in its entirety on your desktop, complete with music. Another option includes an interactive kaleidoscope mode which lets you play with an animated image of Sorcerer Mickey, allowing you to control size, color and even the intensity of the ripples in the water as you turn the virtual kaleidoscope.

Disney Parks has also registered the domain name WorldOfColorCreator.com but that site has yet to go live at this time.

Innovative Entertainment Technology Drives ‘World of Color’ – the Next Milestone in Expansion of Disney’s California Adventure

Concept Art for World of Color at Disney's California AdventureANAHEIM, Calif. (July 16, 2009) – Elaborate preparation is underway for “World of Color,” the spectacular nighttime water show that will astound guests with its magnitude and creativity when it debuts in spring 2010 as the next major milestone in the expansion of Disney’s California Adventure park. Surpassing all Disney water productions, “World of Color” will bring Disney animation to life with powerful fountains that become stars of the show as they create the world’s largest projected water screen.

For months now, guests at Disney’s California Adventure have been peering into the lagoon near Paradise Pier as Walt Disney Imagineering and Creative Entertainment have installed the massive infrastructure and innovative technology that will create the stage for this extraordinary combination of music, animation and stunning water effects. Teams of Disney workers have built nearly an acre of superstructure to support the complex “World of Color” production.
